Martin and Scott Klazmer don’t build homes the way most builders do, and that’s deliberate. Four generations of construction knowledge is behind every project, with Scott bringing more than 35 years of hands-on craft and Martin carrying that legacy forward with a sharper eye on design, finishes, and the details that production builders treat as afterthoughts.

I have been a REALTOR for 10 years, and in that time I have sold a lot of new construction homes, both as a buyer’s agent, and as a listing agent representing builders. Klazmer Homes has really set themselves apart from other builders with their attention to detail, hands-on approach, and thoughtfulness when designing and executing the construction of a new home. How much does it cost to build a custom home with Klazmer Custom Homes?
Our custom homes typically range from the $800s to $2 million and above, depending on the homesite, size, architectural design, finishes and selections. Every home is different, so we work with clients early in the process to understand their vision and establish realistic expectations around investment.
What is the typical cost per square foot for a custom home?
Our custom homes generally start around $250 per square foot, with the final cost depending heavily on design, materials, finishes and site conditions. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all price per square foot, we develop pricing around the home you actually want to build.
Where does Klazmer Custom Homes build?
We build throughout the greater Memphis area and select Tennessee markets, including Germantown, East Memphis, Collierville, Piperton, Lakeland and Arlington. We also consider opportunities elsewhere in Tennessee based on the project.
Do I need to own a lot before contacting you?
No. We can get involved before you’ve selected a homesite. Our team can help identify potential properties and coordinate with real estate professionals, architects, surveyors and other partners to evaluate a lot, develop site plans and determine how your home can best fit the property.
How custom can my home be?
As custom as you want it to be. We build fully custom homes from the ground up and also offer semi-custom opportunities. Buyers who purchase a Klazmer home already under construction may also be able to personalize finishes and certain elements depending on the stage of construction.
Do I need an architect or interior designer before contacting you?
Not at all. You’re welcome to bring your own architect or designer, or we can help assemble the right team. We have design and real estate expertise on our team and relationships with architects and other professionals throughout Memphis. We can coordinate the process from the earliest planning stages through construction.
How long does it take to build a custom home?
A typical custom home takes approximately 9–12 months to build, although timing varies based on the home’s complexity, permitting, site conditions, selections and other factors. We establish expectations early and communicate throughout the process so you always know where your home stands.
Who will I work with during construction?
You work directly with your builders. Martin leads much of the client experience while Scott is deeply involved in on-site construction and project management. We also hold weekly client meetings throughout the build. You aren’t passed from salesperson to project manager to superintendent — you have direct access to the people responsible for building your home.
How does Klazmer handle pricing and unexpected costs?
Transparency is central to our process. We primarily work on a cost-plus model and share invoices and receipts with our clients throughout construction, so you can understand where your investment is going. Our contracts establish expectations upfront and our goal is open communication rather than surprises.
What happens after we move in?
Our relationship doesn’t end at closing. Klazmer homes include a 10-year structural warranty, and we remain involved after move-in to address punch-list items and finishing details, including a final round of paint touch-ups. We want you to be as happy living in your home as we were building it.
